The India Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam which is also knows as IIT-JEE is entrance exam that is taken yearly. By giving this exam student can apply for total 15 colleges for their undergraduate program. These fifteen colleges include seven old and eight new colleges like IT-BHU Varanasi, ISMU, IISER, RGIPT etc. This exam is organized by various IITs by going round.
IIT-JEE is one of toughest Entrance exams that are conducted through out the world. Out of each 45 students only one student cracks the exam. You can notice how hard-hitting exam is by its success rate. By qualifying in exam students can apply for various courses like Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Technology, Dual Degree course and Integrated Master of Science.
History of IIT-JEE goes back 45 years. There used to be two exams, one for qualifying to main exam and main exam. One must grab a rank above 20,000 to get qualified for main exam. In 2005, this two-test system changed to one test system. Student who wants to attend main exam must secure 60% marks in aggregate in qualifying examination by various educational boards.
The current pattern consists of two objective type papers. Each paper consists of Physics, Chemistry and Maths section. The syllabus is mainly dominated by subjects enclosed by CBSE board and ICSE board. Optical mark recognition method is used to count marks since 2006.
Previously, there were both subjective and objective papers but new pattern is developed to reduce the stress of student. IIT follows a thorough procedure while conducting JEE exam. Multiple sets of question paper are created and the one which is to be used for exam is known to only five individuals. In 2009, around 385,000 students appeared for the exam out of which only 10,035 were qualified for admission.
