ABOUT NIMCET

The National Institute of Technology conducts the NIMCET examination every year for admissions towards its Masters in Computer Application courses. The NITs are one of the most sought after institutes for technical courses provided by it. All courses are funded by the Govt. of India. The NIMCET thus is an entrance test for the MCA courses  that the eleven NITs offer. Majority of NIT seats fall under the open category. About fifty percent belong to state candidates.  The NIMCET is conducted at the NITs, AIT and MSIT in India.

Students appearing for the NIMCET need to fulfill certain eligibility criteria in order to appear for the examination. The basic requirements include a std 12 minimum score of 6.5 GPA or 60% aggregate. The eligibility criterion is lower for ST and SC candidates. SC and ST candidates need to have a minimum score of 6 GPA or 55% aggregate. Apart from this basic requirement the student must have studied Business Math, Normal Math and Statistics in std 12 and at the graduation level.

All the applicants need to submit an online form. A copy of the form also needs to be sent along with a demand draft and copies of other documents. The examination is conducted during the third week of March with the application forms being available from last week of February to last week of March. The results are usually announced by the end of May.

The examination is of two hours with one hundred twenty multiple choice questions. Each question has four choices. Four marks are awarded for every correct answer and one mark is deducted for every wrong answer.  The questions are distributed as follows:-

General English :   15nos
Computer Awareness  :   10nos
Analytical & Logical reasoning  :   55nos
Math :    40nos
