The Indian Navy - Become a Short Service Commissioned Officer in the Education Branch - 2009

Become a Short Service Commissioned Officer in the Education Branch Course commencing JAN – 2010

1. Applications are invited from unmarried Male and Female Indian Citizens for Short Service Commission Officers in the Education Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan 2010 at Naval Academy (NAVAC), INS Zamorin, Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates to fulfill condition of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

Eligibility Conditions

Age: 21 to 25 years (candidate to be born between 02 Jan 1985 and 01 Jan 1989 both dates inclusive).

3. Educational Qualification

(a) BE / B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized University in any one of the following;-

(I) Electronics (ii) Electrical (iii) Mechanical (iv) IT/Computer Science Or

(b) A Master`s Degree in minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University in Physics or Mathematics. Those with Masters Degree in Physics should have studied Mathematics and those with Mathematics should have studied Physics as subsidiary subject at the graduation level. Or

(c) A Masters Degree in one of the following with minimum 50% marks:- Computer Science (with Physics or Maths in B. Sc). M. Sc Chemistry, M.A. Eng, M.A. History. Or

(d) Master`s in Computer Application (with Physics or Maths in B.Sc), with Minimum 50% marks. Or

(e) Post Graduate in Operations Analysis and Operational Research Quantitative methods with minimum 75% marks Or

(f) Post Graduate in Mathematics with Probability cr Statistic with minimum 75% marks.

Note :• Candidates who have not completed their BE/B.Tech Or Master’s Degree (i.e. appearing candidates) need not apply, their applications will not be accepted.

Physical Standard

(a) Height & Weight: Minimum height Male-157 cms, Female-152 cms with correlated weight.

(b) Eye Sight: The minimum acceptable standard for distant vision 6/60, 6/50 correctable to 6/6. 6/12 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind.

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION

Short Service Commission is granted for a period of 10 years, extendable to 14 years subject to service requirement and performance/ willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules. Disciplined life, leadership qualities and professional skills imbibed during the service would stand as added advantage in
acquiring second career post exit from the Navy.

(a) If you meet the above requirements, apply on plain A4 size paper (typed or handwritten) In the prescribed format duly completed in all respects with superscription on the envelope "EDUCATION BRANCH - JAN 2010 COURSE, Educational qualification (BE / B.TECH)............ M.Sc. (Physics/Maths) (as applicable) Aggregate Percentage .......... %" are to be sent to the address given below by 8th June, 2009.

(b) Application must be sent in the format given in the advertisement, otherwise it will be rejected.

(c) Application must be accompanied by attested copies of- (i) 10th standard certificate for verification of date of birth and other educational certificates. (ii) Marks statement of all semesters/years.

(d) Application and requisite enclosures must be properly tagged / stitched by thread only

Selection Procedure

7. (a) The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) interview based on their performance in BE/B Tech & Masters Degree Courses. No communication will be entertained on this account. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with higher percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence(Navy) [IHQ-MoD(Navy)] reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account.

(b) SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled during July - Dec O9 at Bangalore/ Bhopal/Coimbatore.

(c) The total duration of SSB interviews is of 5 days, consisting Stage I (Day one) and Stage II (Four days). Stage I Tests consist of Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Discussion Tests (PDPT). Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage twill be routed back on the same day from SSB centre. Stage ll Tests consist of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests, Group discussion and Interview. Recommended candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination at nearest military hospital for duration of 05 days.

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit will be appointed for training in order of All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies. The confirmation in the service is subject to satisfactory Police Verification Report and Character & Antecedent Certificate.

(e) Change of SSB centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstances.

(f) Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the President of the SSB on receipt of call up letter and copy endorsed to Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment (Ol & R). Room No. 204, ‘C` Wing, Sena Bhawan-IHQ-MOD(N), New Delhi – 110011 (Fax No. 011 - 23011282). Allocation of fresh dates will be subject to availability of batches for the entry.

(g) No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests.

(h) Return 2nd Class Sleeper rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for the entry.
