About Staff selection Committee (A boon or curse in disguise)
If you wish to get a job in a government department or ministry what are the options available to you? There is an option of clearing a SSC exam and if everything goes right you will get a job of lower order in any of the mentioned above.
SSC performs the work of searching talent required for small posts by taking exams and interviews. The gateway of SSC opened since 1975 for recruitment of non technical group “C” and group “B” posts in govt. offices along with CAG and Accountant General.
Selection process is quiet simple according to wants generated SSC declares notices stating the details of profiles having openings, location or names of relevant ministry or office, Eligibility criteria like education, age etc. how many seats are kept separated under the reservation quota, pay scale and other details about selection.
Candidates are supposed to fill required forms and appear in a written exam. Candidates clearing the exams are further interviewed then only their selection is made final and offered jobs.We can say working of both the commissions UPSC and SSC is almost same.
Difference between UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and SSC is this that UPSC recruits for Groups “A” and others while SSC is for Lower Groups. SSC was earlier known as Subordinate Service Commission.
Selected recruits enjoy all Govt. perks and benefits with the other officials. Increments and promotions are done taking in consideration points like length of service and seniority. The usual rule of 9-18-27 years of service for growth is followed uniformly for all employees selected by both commissions.
The way these commissions are recruiting has helped a lot to the development of country but the system of selection can not be said perfect as it mainly depends on performance in written test and merit. Many a times this system ahs been questioned for its wrong selection or the selection of non productive employees.
Secondly these commissions are not evolving their working and selection process as times have changed a lot since 1975 registers are obsolete computers are in but still they look for people good with register entering.
