Salary offered for Junior Engineer positions (Rs. 9300-34800 + grade pay of Rs.4200)
SSC yet to declare Number of vacancies.
Eligibility:
Age Eligibility: (as on 27.01.2010).
Min: 18 years (DOB not later than 27.01.1992), Max.: 27 years (DOB not earlier than 28.01.1983).
Age relaxations exist as per Government rule.
Academic qualification required:
Minimum diploma in Civil or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institute.
How to apply for the 2010 SSC JE Exam :
Application Form for SSC JE Exam is available at the notification page:
Candidate must go through the notification and this will help them to fill up the form and other details like exam fees, stamps required etc.
SSC will send SSC JE Exam Call letter for written exam two weeks prior to the examination.
Selection Process: consists of Written test (500 marks) followed by Interview (100 mARK)
SSC Junior Engineers JE exam (format) pattern
Selection of SSC Junior Engineers consists of two process:
A Written Test (500 marks)
An Interview (100 marks)
Those candidate who are short listed in the written test will only be called for
Interview.
SSC JE Written test consists of two papers:
Paper 1 - Objective type question paper of 200 marks
Duration: 2 hours, 9.30-11.30 a.m.
General Intelligence & Reasoning 50 marks
General Awarness 50 marks
Engineering 100 marks
Paper 2 - Descriptive type question paper of 300 marks
Duration: 3 hours, 01.00-04.00 a.m.
Engineering 300 Marks
SSC decides the cut-off mark or qualifying mark of candidates in the written test.
One can get SSC JE Study Material / books / sample papers by reading books written by some experts.

ABOUT STAFF SLECTION COMMISSION (SSC)
SSC was set-up by the Estimate committee of parliament, for conducting the examinations and making the recruitments to non-technical (group c), non-gazetted (group b) posts in departments of government of India. It is a as per the 47th report of the committee (1967-68). It also conducts deparmental examinations for various posts.
Its main functions and responsibilities is supervising and over-seeing its fields operations and establishing report with state government and their departments.It also makes arrangements for impartial and smooth conduct of exams ,assisting interview boards etc.SSC recruits most of the work forces of the central government and the people recruited by SSC will act as the interface between the government and the public and helps them in implementing the policies of the government.
The SSC holds a nation-wide network of regional and sub-regional offices located at Allahabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati ,Kolkata. This regional set-up ensures smooth conduct of exams and works for convenience of candidates from different areas.These regional offices accept ,process the applications and issue admit cards for various exams. It also conducts the interview/ PETS either at regional headquarters or other major cities with in the regions. The exams conducted by SSC aim to test the potential and selects the apt.
It also formulates policies including schemes of exams, conducting selection tests etc. The interviews conducted by it are effectively uniform and objective and keeps in view about candidates from diverse backgrounds. Staff Selection commission really holds a major responsibility.
