IES Exam dates to remember:
Notification date : 30.01.2010
Last date for receipt of IES 2010 forms: 02.03.2010
for remote areas it is 09.03.2010
Online forms will be available from 6th Feb. to 22nd Feb. 2010
UPSC IES 2010 Exam on 26th June, 2010, 3 days exam
Eligibility:
Age : Candidate must be between 21 years to 30 years as on 01.08.2010
Age relaxations exists as per Government rules.
Academic qualification:
Candidate must be a graduate in Engineering from a recognized university.
Candidates can apply both Online and well as Offline.

How to apply for UPSC IES Exam 2010 ?
Candidates must buy the IES exam application forms the Post Offices mentioned in the notification against cash payment of Rs. 20/- After you got the application form and Information Brochure, go through it in details. Affix a postage stamp of Rs.6 on the Acknowledgement Card and see the instruction mentioned in the website and fill up the form.
Send the properly filled up form to the below address:

About UPSC Civil Services Exam
Civil service examinations are examinations implemented in various countries for admission to the civil service. They are intended as a method to achieve an effective, rational public administration on a merit system. In India, the British Government started these examinations to recruit service providers to the different government offices. The setting up of the First Public Commission dates back to 1926. Later in 1935 the Federal Public Service Commission was set which further got its autonomous entity as the Union Public Service Commission on 26th January 1950. Presently, the Commission is serviced by a Secretariat headed by a Secretary with two Additional Secretaries, a number of Joint Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries and other supporting staff. Under article 320 of the Constitution of India the Recruitment to civil services & posts through the USC Exam is done in three ways:
1. Direct Recruitment : This recruitment in its turn is done through two ways, either by competitive examination or through direct interview.
2. Promotion
3. Transfers
The Union Public Service Commission have been entrusted with the following duties and role under the Constitution:
1. Recruitment to services & posts under the Union through conduct of competitive examinations;
2. Recruitment to services & posts under the Central Government by Selection through Interviews;
3. Advising on the suitability of officers for appointment on promotion as well as transfer-on-deputation;
4. Advising the Government on all matters relating to methods of Recruitment to various services and posts;
5. Disciplinary cases relating to different civil services; and
6. Miscellaneous matters relating to grant of extra ordinary pensions, reimbursement of legal expenses etc.
Under the Constitution one of the functions of the Commission is to conduct examinations for appointment to Civil Services/Posts of the Union. In addition, competitive examinations are also held by the Commission under arrangements with the Ministry of Defence for entry to certain Defence Services, through the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and the Officers Training Academy. The Commission usually conducts over a dozen examinations every year on an all India basis. These include Examinations for recruitment to services/posts in various fields, such as Civil Services, Engineering, Medical and Forest Service, etc. At present the Union Public Service Commission conduct their examinations at numerous venues spread over 42 regular centers throughout the country.
