About UGC-NET Exam



What is UGC NET Exam?


The University Grant Commission conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine the candidate’s eligibility for lectureship and also for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian citizens in order to get ensured in teaching profession. The examination is being conducted  in subjects like Humanitarians, social sciences, forensic science, computer science and application science.


NET is conducted by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for other science subjects. This test is being conducted twice the year in the month of June and December. Those candidates who want to pursue, the Junior Research Fellowship is available for 5 years to fulfill the  certain conditions. The JRF is awarded to those candidates who are meritorious candidates from the candidates who are eligible for lectureship in the NET examination


Eligibility:


Candidates who get qualified for the award of the Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to do the interdisciplinary research in subject in post graduate and also eligible for lectureship. Various universities in India and institutions may appoint JRF awardees for whole research academics with the prescribed procedure for them. The qualified candidates will be eligible for lectureship. Candidates who are appearing for NET examination should clearly clarify that they are both JRF and also eligible for lectureship.


Those candidates who have completed or pursuing UGC specified Master’s degree are eligible for NET exam.


Candidates who have secured 55% marks in master’s degree are eligible for test. And those from SC/ST and physically handicapped should score 50% marks.


Candidates who are appearing or waiting for their master’s degree result are welcomed for this test.


Ph.D holders whose master’s degree has been completed are also eligible for this test.


Candidates are advised to appear in those subjects which are related to Post Graduation.


Admission process:


Candidates who are seeking admission for NET test must apply in prescribed application form in duplicates. Applications which are in the prescribed format will not be entertained. The admission form should be filled legally and carefully as prescribed in the form.


Candidate must affix their recent passport size photo and must sign across the photo. And also it should have attested copy  by the Head of the university department
