About Indian Army 

Indian Army is the largest standing volunteer Army in the world. The number of people in the Army is over one million personnel and more than three dozen field division. The army of the country is more dedicated on the outskirts especially Kashmir as it is the most sensitive region and our army personnel are handling its sensitivity with cautious efforts throughout the year. In 2002 Indian army were having 980000 active troops, on which 300000 were the first line troops and another 500000-second line troops. In 1994, Indian army was having 940000 men and women on duty and 36000 were posted under Territorial Army. In 1998, the strength of Indian army was about 1045000 still shortages of 59000 troops. 


At the time of World War II the number of Indian army were having 170000 soldiers but by the June 1948 the number raised up to 2000000. On because of this reason British officers were needed to train and commanded each battalion. Eight British officers take command and Indian Viceroy Commissioned officers managed all lower ranks.

Candidates found guilty of violation of any rule or giving any other false information or commit any offence related to examination is liable to be debarred by the Commission.

The application form may be downloaded and submitted along with the application fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees 50/- for SC/ST candidates and free for Disabled Person on producing the photocopy of relevant certificate) through Bank Draft/IPO drawn in favour of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi-110025. The application form complete in all respect should reach on or before 30.04.2011 in the Office of the Assistant Registrar (RPS), Room No. 202, 2nd Floor, Registrar’s Office, Khayaban-e- Ajmal, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi-110025, during working days between 10:00 A.M. to 01:00 P.M. Note:
1) Selection against temporary post/vacancy shall not confer on the appointee any right of permanent appointment/regularization.
2) (a) The Jamia reserves the right to evolve a uniform and reasonable criterion for short-listing of eligible candidates, if needed.
(b) Jamia also reserves right to give preference to those who possess higher qualifications.

About Jamia Millia Islamia
Jamia Millia Islamia is an Indian Central University located in Delhi. It was originally established at Aligarh in United Provinces, India in 1920. It became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988.
Under the British rule, two dominant trends joined hands and contributed towards the birth of Jamia. One was anti-colonial activism and the other was the pro-independence aspiration of the politically radical section of western educated Indian Muslim intelligentsia. In the political climate of 1920, the two trends gravitated together with Mahatma Gandhi as a catalyst. The idea was to project Indian Muslims as nationalist and anti British. The anti-colonial activism signified by the Khilafat and the pro-independence aspirations symbolized by the Non-Cooperation Movement of the Indian National Congress helped to harness creative energies and the subsequent making of Jamia Millia Islamia.
Responding to Gandhi’s call to boycott all educational institutions supported or run by the colonial regime, a group of nationalist teachers and students quit Aligarh Muslim University, protesting against its pro-British inclinations. The freedom fighter and Muslim theologian, Maulana Mehmud Hasan, laid the foundation stone of Jamia Millia Islamia at Aligarh on Friday, October 29, 1920, during the meeting of the Foundation Committee of Jamia Millia Islamia.
