WALK-IN-INTERVIEW
The National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR) is looking for prospective candidates for filling up the following position under the project “Geological and Tectonic Evolution of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal sectors of the Northern Indian Ocean”. The position is purely temporary on contract basis under the project mode, initially for a period of one year. Candidate fulfilling the eligibility conditions are invited to attend the walk-in-interview at NCAOR on 11.04.2011 (Monday) (from 9.30 AM onwards)
1) Research Scientist ‘B’
Total Number of posts: 01
Total Emoluments (Rs) : Rs.36,000/- pm (consolidated)
Qualification and Experience:
(i) Master’s degree in Geophysics /Applied Geophysics/ Marine Geophysics/ Geology / Applied Geology/ Marine Sciences /Oceanography/ Earth Sciences from a recognized university with at least 60% marks at Graduation or Post Graduation level.
Experience :
(i) Experience in geophysical dataacquisition (Seismic/ Gravity/Magnetic)/ processing and interpretation.
Desirable:
(i) Knowledge of programming language and working knowledge of UNIX and / or LINUX.
Job responsibilities:
To play an active role in all facets of work program related to the project: participation in scientific cruises: marine geophysical data processing/ interpretation.
(Registration time will start from 09:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m on 11.04.2011. No candidates will be
allowed to attend the interview after Registration time. Interview will start from 10:00 am onwards).
Consolidated Emoluments : Rs. 36,000/- pm (Inc. of all)
Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years, age relaxation to the employees of GOI and SC /ST/OBC as per GOI Norms. Age relaxation may also be considered in case of exceptionally deserving candidates.
Reservation: As per GOI norms. However, being a project mode position for a short period, if such candidates are not available, the same will be treated as unreserved and will be filled by the deserving candidate.
Tenure: Post is purely temporary under the project mode on temporary /contract basis. The assignment is initially for a period of one year/or till the completion of the Project, whichever is earlier.
The date of Walk-in-interview 11.04.2011 (Monday) is the cut-off date for all the purposes.

The National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR) as an Indian research and development institution, and an autonomous Institution of the Department of Ocean Development (DOD), Government of India. Situated at Vasco, Goa, it is responsible for administering the Indian Antarctic Program and maintains the Indian government's Antarctic research station, Maitri. NCAOR was established on 25 May 1998, with Dr. P C Pandey as its founding director; while the 2nd and present director is Rasik Ravindra. At present NCAOR is an agency working under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India since 2006, by the notification President of India.
