It was formed in 1955, and it was created mainly for providing India businessmen, med-term and long-term project financing. Mr. A. Ramaswami Mudliar was the first chairmen of ICICI bank. In 1994, it was renamed as ICICI bank limited and was decided to undertake all banking operation, like accounts for normal customers and many other operations.

It has 1,520 branches distributed all over India with 4,721 ATMs. The ICICI bank has its branches in 18 countries and across all this branches it has 24 million customers.       Though ICICI bank is expanding and growing rapidly, it is going away from humanity. Some incidents in recent years shows that bank can go to any level to recover its loan. Some incident as follows:

Consumer commission fined ICICI bank 55 lakh for hiring “goondas” to recover loan who dragged a youth using force (who wasn’t even borrower) and beaten him with iron rods.
