About Punjab & Sind Bank

Punjab and Sind bank, also known as PSB, is today one of the major bank in northern India. It was formed by Bhai Vir Singh, Sir Sunder Singh Majitha and sardar Tarlochan Singh in 1908 to improve lifestyle of weak sector of society and to help them in economic issues. It is one of the very few banks that treats all migrants from Pakistan same as other Indian population even though it’s most branches were in Pakistan and very few was in India at the time of partitioning. Its founder started its first branch in Amritsar.

It was nationalized in 1980 when five more banks were nationalized along with it. Now currently has it’s headquarter located in Delhi. So even after going through many changes and difficult conditions, today it is one of the most rooted banks in India. As a matter of surprise, its most of assets came from that part of society, for which this bank was founded. So basically we can say that bank’s management has been succeeded in achieving its basic goal. It has grown up from one branch little private bank to around 900 branches in India with 100 other extension counters. It also had its branch opened in London but it was merged in Bank of Baroda in merger.

The bank also has some corporate goals like managing risk more effectively, giving more friendly and excellent customer service to all customers without knowing its society status. For sake of customer’s convenience, it has made some rules for employees and also has defined a specific time limit for all procedures which are displayed in every branch, breaking of whom can cause an employee lose its job. It provides all basic facilities which a normal bank provides like safe deposit vault, SI, remittance service, cash order, cheque collection service and many other services but also provides advance services like e-fund transfer….etc.
