Ministry of HRD has declared that the National Institute of Technology will have 50% of the total seats reserved for the candidates on the basis of score achieved in AIEEE examination.

Other than National Institute of Technology, there are numerous institutes accepting the AIEEE scores. Some of the institutes in the list offering admission on central counseling include Indian Institutes of Information Technology, School of Planning and Architecture, Birla Institute of Technology and National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology. The others offer admission on the basis of the counseling conducted on their own which includes Punjab Engineering College, University Institute of Chemical Technology, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology and many others.

The candidates appearing for the All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination are given scores on all India basis as well as upon the position secured within the state. Therefore the students have the All India Rank or AIR and State Rank or SR. the examinations for the All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination takes place at the last Sunday of April, the results for which are announced at the end of May.

While the candidates appearing for under graduate courses in Architecture are tested in Mathematics as well as Aptitude test, the engineering candidates are tested in physics, chemistry and mathematics.
