The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination, 2010 on 19th December, 2010 for recruitment to the Special Class Apprentices in the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

Salient features of the examination are published herein for general information of candidates. For details regarding Eligibility Conditions, the Syllabus and Scheme of the examination, Centres of examination, Guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the Detailed Notice of the examination published in the Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar dated 28th August, 2010.

Eligibility: CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY:

Age Limits:

Not less than 17 years and not more than 21 years on 1st August, 2010.

The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

Educational Qualifications:

Must have passed in the first or second division, the Intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-ll of the Rules for the Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination, 2010 published in the Gazette of India dated 28th August, 2010.

How To Apply:     

HOW TO APPLY:

a) Candidates, who wish to apply offline, must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-Ill of the Notice published in the Employment News dated 28.08.2010) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No,011-23389366/Fax No.011-23387310.

b) Candidates can also apply Online using the link http://www.upsconline.nic.in Detailed
instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned Website.

FEE:

Candidates applying Offline (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of Rs 507- (Rupees Fifty only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only.

Candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs 25/- (Rupees Twenty Five only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

All Female candidates/SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates are exempted from payment of Fee. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fee).

IIT Bhubaneswar invites applications for faculty positions at the level of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor (on contractual basis) in the following five Schools:

Schools (Disciplines): School of Mechanical Sciences (Mechanical Engineering,
Manufacturing Engineering and Materials), School of Electrical Sciences (Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering), School of Infrastructure (Civil Engineering), School of Basic Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Bioscience) and School of HSS & Management (English, Economics, Philosophy and Psychology).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree in appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and evidence of ability to pursue independent high quality research.

EXPERIENCE
Professor: A minimum of 10 years teaching / research / industrial experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institutions of comparable standards.

Associate Professor:
At least 6 years teaching / research / industrial experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor, Senior Scientific Officer /

Senior Design Engineer.
Assistant Professor: At least 3 years teaching / research / industrial experience
excluding, however, the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D. Assistant Professor (on contractual basis): May have less than 3 years teaching / research / industrial experience.

Pay Band : PB4: Rs. 37400 – Rs. 67000/-
Minimum Pay In the Payband: Rs. 48000/-
Academic Grade Pay : Rs. 10500/-

2) Associate Professor

Pay Band : PB4: Rs. 37400 – Rs. 67000/-

3) Assistant Professor

In the above cases experience will be counted excluding that gained while pursuing Ph.D.

In addition to above pay, allowances as admissible to Central Government employees are applicable.

OTHER INCENTIVES

1. A cumulative Professional Development Allowance of Rs. 3 lakhs for every block period of 3 years on reimbursement basis to meet the expenses for attending international/national conferences, paying membership fees of professional bodies, covering book grant, paying telephone charges and meeting contingent expenses etc. as per Institute guidelines.

2. Initial seed grant up to Rs.5 lakhs for initiating research project in a chosen area.

3. Reimbursement of relocation charges at the time of joining up to a ceiling of Rs. 90,000/- as per Institute norm.

4. Honorarium of Rs. 15,000/- per month to the faculty members who have obtained Bhatnagar Award OR are Fellows of at least two National Academies. A faculty member is entitled for only one honorarium.

NOTES:

• Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH as per Government of India rules.

• Minimum requirement of experience may be relaxed in respect of outstanding
candidates.

• Mere eligibility will not vest any right on any candidate for being called for interview. The decision of the Institute in all matters of selection will be final.

• The Institute reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for interview after shortlisting in terms of the candidates’ qualification, suitability and experience.

• For the post of Assistant Professor the candidates should be preferably below 35 years of age

The pay carries all other allowances similar to a Central Government employee stationed at Rohtak. The fringe benefits, such as HRA, LTC, medical re-imbursement, education allowance for children, contribution towards New Pension Scheme (NPS), re-imbursement of telephone bills, financial support towards national and international conferences etc. shall be permitted as per the Institute norms. Faculty members are permitted to pursue industry consulting with income sharing with the Institute as per rules.

(b) Any Medical Graduate with 2 years experience in Epidemiology/Public Health

Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in issues related to Public Health

Programmes or Epidemiology.

Age: 40 years or below.

Salary: Rs 25,000/- to 40,000/- based on the educational qualification and experience.

There will be negative marks for wrong answers in Objective Test. Bank will decide the minimum cut-off marks for each subject as well as Total Weighted Score [TWS]. Depending on the number of vacancies, such of those candidates who rank sufficiently high in the order of merit in the written test as per the cut off marks decided by the Bank will only be called for interview.

Mere eligibility / admission to the test / pass in the test does not imply that the Bank is satisfied beyond doubt about the candidates’ eligibility and shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview. The Bank reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for interview.

Other details regarding the test will be given to the candidates in the “Acquaint Yourself Booklet”, which will be sent along with the call letter for written examination.

Maximum marks for Interview is 100 and the final selection shall be on the basis of marks secured by the candidate in Test and / or Interview, as decided by the Bank.

General [for all posts]:

The Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure, if necessary. The change, if any, shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.
   
The Bank would be free to reject the candidature of any candidate at any stage of the recruitment process, if he / she is found to be ineligible. If appointed, such a candidate may be summarily removed and the fees paid by the ineligible candidates shall be forfeited.

The call letters for attending the written test shall be sent to the eligible candidates by ordinary post. Candidate has to affix his / her photograph on the call letter. Candidate has to bring this call letter while attending the written test.

CALL LETTER FOR ATTENDING INTERVIEW:


The candidates who have been shortlisted for direct interview posts and the candidates who have qualified in the written test & ranked sufficiently high [as mentioned in Point No. 6] in case of test posts, will only be called for the Interview and their details and Interview Schedule will be made available in Bank’s website www.canarabank.com. Interview Call Letters shall be sent by ordinary post to the candidates who have qualified for interview. Alternatively the interview call letter can be downloaded from the Bank’s website.

Bank will not take responsibility for late receipt / non-receipt of call letter / any communication to the candidate. Hence candidates are requested to keep track of status of the recruitment process by visiting Bank’s website from time to time.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Candidates have to register on-line through Bank’s website only. No other means of applications shall be entertained.
2. Admission to the written test / calling for interview is purely provisional. Mere receipt of call letter for written test / interview does not imply that the Bank is satisfied about the candidate’s eligibility. The above concession will not be admissible to SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities category candidates who are already in service in Central / State Government, Corporations, Public Undertakings / Local Government, Institutions and Panchayats etc.
6. Candidates serving in Government / Public Sector Undertakings (including Banks) should send their application through proper channel. However, an advance copy of system generated print-out of registered application along with original payment challan and other relevant documents may be sent within the stipulated date. Such candidatesare required to produce a “No Objection certificate” from their employer at the time of interview, in the absence of which their candidature will not be considered.
7. Only candidates willing to serve anywhere in India should apply.
8. Decision of the Bank in all matters regarding eligibility of the candidate, the stages at which such scrutiny of eligibility is to be undertaken, the documents to be produced for the purpose of the conduct of interview, selection and any other matter relating to recruitment will be final and binding on the candidate.  Further, the Bank reserves right to stall / cancel the recruitment partially / fully at any stage during the recruitment process at its discretion, which will be final and binding on the candidate.

11. 12. An Ex-serviceman candidate has to produce a copy  of the discharge certificate / pension payment order and documentary proof of rank last / presently held (substantive as well as acting) at the time of interview. Those who are still in defence service should submit a certificate from a competent authority that they will be relieved from defence services, on or before 30.09.2010.
13. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to his/her being declared medically fit as per the requirement of the Bank & receiving satisfactory report from referees and subject to service and conduct rules of the Bank.
14. Any resultant dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the Courts situated in Bangalore.

      Collect the candidate's copy of Fee Payment Challan from the Branch. Please check that challan is properly signed & the details of Transaction Sequence No., Branch Name & DP Code Number, Deposit Date are noted in the challan by the Branch Authorities.
   5.

      Log on to bank website www.canarabank.com for applying on-line.

After on-line registration, candidates are requested to write their Registration Number on the back of the Payment Challan.

The application fee / postal charges should be paid during the following dates;

Even if the last date of registration changes due to technical reasons, the valid dates for payment of application fee / postal charges will not be changed.
