Test Duration and Pattern


The duration of the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes including initial 15 minute tutorial. No breaks will be given during the test. The test consists of questions that evaluate a candidate’s quantitative, verbal, and logical & data interpretation abilities. Therefore, there are a total of three sections in the test. There will be about 60 questions in the test.

At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room.

About Common Admission Test (CAT)

Common Admission Test (CAT) which is one of toughest exam conducted by the IIM’s to get the student eligible for the admission in any of the IIM institute in India and get the best of 2 year full time post graduate course. Apart from the IIM’s some of the B- school to consider the CAT scores for admission of the candidates. There is no university in India which accepts the

CAT scores.

CAT is conducted by the IIM’s which are –Ahmadabad,  Calcutta, Bangalore, Lucknow, and Calicut.

Eligibility:
Candidate must be successfully passing out graduation with the minimum score of 50% or equivalent to CGPA( 45% for those candidates who belong to SC/ST or disabled person from any of the recognized university. Candidate who  appearing  for the final year of bachelor’s degree can also apply for CAT exam provided with fully eligibility criteria. However, different institute may have their own  entrance test which is required for the course.

Exam dates:
The CAT test is usually conducted on the second Sunday of  December and for which the notification are being published during the second week of  July.


Paper pattern:
However, there are some slight changes in the paper pattern every year, but basically it follows like:
Maths:  50 marks
Data interpretation: 35 marks
English: 50 marks
Reading comprehension: 50 marks


Calls from IIM institutes do come in the month of February or in the mid of April. Sometime the Final exams of T.Y.Bcom do clashes can’t do anything for it. Students must be prepared with G.D and Personal interview.
