Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) invites applications for Scientist positions in Disease Biology (inclusive of, but not limited to Cancer Biology, Cardiovascular Biology, Diabetes, Infectious Disease Biology, Virology, Immunology of Disease, Stem Cell Biology, Neurobiology, etc.) and Plant Biotechnology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR SCIENTIST POSITIONS

1) Scientist C
Minimum Academic Qualification : MD or PhD

MINIMUM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND PUBLICATION RECORD*
Three to Five Years Post Doctoral experience plus peer reviewed publications with high impact factors (including at least three with IF 5 or more) as First or Corresponding Author.

2) Scientist E-I
Minimum Academic Qualification : MD or PhD

MINIMUM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND PUBLICATION RECORD*
Six to Nine Years Post Doctoral experience plus peer reviewed publications with high impact factors as First or Corresponding Author.

3) Scientist E-II
Minimum Academic Qualification : MD or PhD

MINIMUM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND PUBLICATION RECORD*
Ten to Twelve Years Post Doctoral experience plus peer reviewed publications with high impact factors as First or Corresponding Author.

4) Scientist F
Minimum Academic Qualification : MD or PhD
MINIMUM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND PUBLICATION RECORD*
Ten to Fifteen Years Post Doctoral experience plus peer reviewed publications with high impact factors as First or Corresponding Author.

*The Screening and Selection Committees will make decisions on the track records of applicants including publications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE SCIENTIST POSITIONS

Scientist C
Minimum Academic Qualification : MD or PhD

MINIMUM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND PUBLICATION RECORD*
Three to five years in Laboratory Medicine and/or Clinical Chemistry-Biochemistry and/or Molecular Diagnostics and/or teaching experience in laboratory medicine.

Scientist E-1
Minimum Academic Qualification : MD or PhD

MINIMUM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND PUBLICATION RECORD*
Six to nine years in Laboratory Medicine and/or Clinical Chemistry-Biochemistry and/or Molecular Diagnostics and/or teaching experience in laboratory medicine.

*The Screening and Selection Committees will make decisions on the track record and working experience.

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format (www.rgcb.res.in/downloads/adv.doc) with a copy of full resume and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 8th April, 2011. The envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, the advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.

Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a premier research institute in India, exclusive devoted to research in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. It is located at Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital city of the state of Kerala in India. This centre runs as a 'grant in aid' institute of the Department of Biotechnology of the Govt. of India. It is an R&D centre under Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment.
The centre was inaugurated on November 18, 2002 by then President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The institute has highly focused research departments working on medical biotechnology (Molecular Medicine, Molecular Reproduction, Molecular Microbiology, Cancer Biology & Neurobiology) and plant genetic engineering. The Center has a regional facility for Genetic Fingerprinting, which provides DNA analysis services for forensic & criminal investigations, paternity disputes, identification of wildlife remains, authentication of plants and seeds besides a battery of molecular diagnostics for genetic and infectious diseases. RGCB is also a major provider of laboratory and infrastructure services to other academic and research institutions.
