ADVERTISEMENT NOTICE
WIHG invites applications for the under mentioned purely temporary tenured positions in the following project sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India :-
PROJECT : DST sponsored project entitled “Fluid flow in Ladakh Accretionary Prism. Indus Suture Zone, Implications for Modeling of Fluid Process of Subduction Regime” under the supervision of Dr. H.K. Sachan, Sci. ‘E’
1. POSITION : JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW : 01 (One)
Remuneration : `. 16,000/- p.m. consolidated plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA), which is at present @ 20%, subject to satisfactory performance. In case the performance of the selected candidate is not found to be satisfactory, the fellowship can be terminated. Sufficient supporting contingent grant for field work etc. will be provided.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on 29.04.2011.
Essential Qualification : 1st class M.Sc./M.Tech. degree in Geology with consistently good academic record. Candidates who have cleared NET/GET, UGC-CSIR combined examination will be given preference. NET/GATE qualified candidates MUST attach an attested photocopy. Knowledge of computer would be additional merit,
Desirable : Knowledge of geology of North West Himalaya and Himalayan rocks is preferable.
The prescribed application form for the above position is available on our Website www.wihg.res.in Interested candidates can download the application form from our Website and should submit their applications on the prescribed form only, failing which the application will be liable to be rejected. Attested photocopies in support of educational qualifications, experience etc. MUST be submitted with the application form. In case of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category, attested copies of Caste Certificates MUST be submitted with the application forms, failing which the relaxations available will not be allowed. Candidates already working elsewhere MUST route their applications through proper channel.

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology is an autonomous research organization under Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, undertaking advance level of research in all aspects of the geology and geodynamics of Himalaya. It has strong specialization in the areas of Petrology and Geochemistry, Structure and Tectonics, Sedimentology, Geomorphology, Glaciology, Magnetostratigraphy, Biostratigraphy, Quaternary Geology, Environment Geology, Seismology and Geophysics. The Institute also houses modern analytical laboratories. To encourage young students/ researches to make career in earth sciences, the Institute has doctoral program and offers Research Associateships to fresh Ph.D. To promote research in emerging areas of earth sciences, the Institute also undertakes sponsored projects. About Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), Dehradun
WIHG, established in 1968 is an autonomous research Institute of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. Previously named as the Institute of Himalayan Geology, it was renamed as the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology in memory of its founder-the late Prof. D.N. Wadia. In the last 40 years the Institute, while continuously striving to unravel the geological truth related to building of the majestic Himalaya, has grown into a centre of excellence and is internationally recognised as an Institute dedicated to research in Himalayan geology with well equipped laboratories and other infrastructural facilities for undertaking advance level of research in the country. The Institute at present has on its roll 64 scientists, several research students along with administration and supporting technical staff.
WIHG carries out basic research in Himalayan Geology and related fields which includes geodynamic evolution, mountain building processes, geoenvironment, seismotectonics and natural resources.
