Rescheduling of 2nd stage written examination for the posts of Enquiry cum Reservation Clerks and Goods Guard

The  2nd stage written examination for the posts of Enquiry cum Reservation Clerks and Goods Guard for the short listed candidates based on the first stage written examination held on 26.09.2010 is rescheduled from 10.01.2011 (sunday) to 13th February (sunday) as per the details given below:-

Date of issue of duplicate call letter at RRB Thiruvananthapuram : 11.02.2011 & 12.02.2011 between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs.

Call letters already issues for the examination on 16.01.2011 stand cancelled.

Fresh Call letters indicating the time and venue of the examination to be held on 13th february, 2011 are being sent to all short-listed candidates at the address given in their application form.

About Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)
In 1942, a service commission was formed which had two members and a chairmen in it for recruitment of subordinate staff of North West zone. This commission was again reviewed and similar commissions were formed at Calcutta, Madras, Lucknow and Bombay under railway board. The main function of these boards at that time was recruitment of class III staff and some other functions as to help and provide advice to general managers on disciplinary matters which involved subordinate staff.

In 1948, Indian Railway Enquiry Committee again reviewed the work done by these boards and suggested that these boards should has one primary work i.e. recruitment of staff for Indian Railway. The other work of giving advices was withdrawn. In 1956, the method of recruitment for Indian Railway using this commission was approved. In early 1985, Railway Service Commission was renamed as Railway recruitment boards.

Till 1955, headquarter of Railway service commission was located in Bombay. Later seeing the need of recruitment all over India, around 6 more boards were formed in different cities. All boards works under the Railway ministry, government of India. So currently all boards those are located in different cities, recruits staff for their respective cities. Mumbai based Railway recruitment board recruits staff for Mumbai, Nagpur, Solapur, Pune, Bhusawal and Nanded division.

In early days, RRB Mumbai was located at Church gate, but in 1986 it was relocated to Mumbai central. The selection procedure for staff is defined by Railway ministry, government of India. Some seats of vacancies are always reserved categories. Employment news is published in local newspapers and it is mandatory to publish it in local language too. After the employment news is published candidates who wish to appear for selection has less than 30 days.

Schedules of written as well as on-line exams are also published in local newspapers. Those candidate who pass the written and on-line exam successfully, has to undergo aptitude test, type test, documents verification and interviews. After all exams are over, final panel declares results in local newspapers by selecting candidates on merit.
