Employment Notice for recruitment of staff in Pay Band-1 of Rs.5200-20200 having Grade Pay of Rs.1800/- in East Coast Railway

Positions:

1) Trackman
Total Number of Vacancies: 1633 Posts (UR-816,SC-250,ST-91,OBC-476)
Age Eligibility: 18-33 Years (as on 1st January, 2011)
Pay Scale: Rs.5200-20200/- plus with Grade Pay Rs.1800/-

2) Token Porter
Total Number of Vacancies: 454 Posts.(UR-195,SC-68,ST-34,OBC-157)
Age Eligibility: 18-33 Years (as on 1st January, 2011).

3) Gate Keeper
Total Number of Vacancies: 238 Posts (UR-120,SC-36,ST-18,OBC-64)
Age Eligibility: 18-33 Years (as on 1st January, 2011)
Pay Scale: Rs.5200-20200/- plus with Grade Pay Rs.1800/-

4) Helper-II
Total Number of Vacancies: 492 Posts (UR-343,SC-40,ST-14,OBC-95)
Age Eligibility: 18-33 Years (as on 1st January, 2011)

Written Exam Syllabus: Question paper for the written test shall be generally in conformity with the educational standard of 10th Class, consisting of multiple choice objective type questions, mainly aimed to assess general knowledge / general awareness / mathematics / general science / reasoning etc. Question paper shall be printed in five languages: Hindi, English, Urdu, Oriya and Telugu only.

Direct recruitment of services and posts in Railways for Class I and II is made via UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). Posts of Stenographers, Clerks, and Assistants in Indian Railways are recruited via SSC (Staff Selection Commission). Recruitment of Class III posts for different departments in Railways is made through different competitive examinations organized by individual RRBs (Railway Recruitment Boards). The Boards are situated in 19 important towns. They announce vacancies via Employment News and newspapers. RRBs also employ teachers, para-medical personnel, nurses, and physical instructors through written tests. Pay scales are relied on requirement of posts.

For Class III service, it cover a huge number of groups like Assistant Station Masters, Clerks, Guards, Ticket Collectors, Workshop Charge men, Foremen, Drivers etc. Technical class III includes Charge men, Supervisors, Assistant Telecommunication Inspectors, Assistant Works Inspectors etc. 

For the Class II services recruitment, the whole Class II services are manned through personnel advanced from lesser ranks for Class III through selection process on basis of merit.

Generally for class IV and III, the minimum eligibility is 10 or 10 + 2. For class II and I, minimum qualification is graduation. But to get exact idea, you should go through the advertisement published for the respective posts. The exam fees also changes from time to time so for that also, you need to go through the advertisement. 

The written test which is an Objective type of test, contain a paper including subjects like English, Arithmetic, General Intelligence, and General Knowledge. All the questions are available in two languages, Hindi and English. Candidates have to hold wide knowledge of current affairs and general interest affairs, predominantly associated with India and Indian Railways. Depending on number of vacancies, applicants who score the highest marks are invited for the interview. Final selection depends on total marks got in written examination as well as interview.
