Eligibility Requirement:
Minimum Qualification and Experience Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor:
A Ph. D. Degree with first class or equivalent grade at the preceding degree in an appropriate branch / discipline with a consistently good academic record throughout.
Professor:
Minimum 10 years Teaching / Research / Industrial Experience, excluding experience gained during Ph. D. Programme, of which at least 4 years as Associate Professor in premier Academic Institution.
Associate Professor:
Minimum 6 years Teaching / Research / Industrial Experience excluding experience gained during Ph. D. Programme, of which at least 3 years as Assistant Professor in premier Academic Institution.
Assistant Professor:
Minimum 3 years Teaching / Research / Industrial Experience, excluding experience gained during Ph. D. Programme *.
*Note :-
1) However, Ph.D. candidate with less than three years experience can also apply. Such candidates will normally be considered for Assistant Professor on Contract and will be eligible to be considered for a regular position, once they obtain 3 years experience.
2) Candidates with ME / M. Tech / M. Pharm /M Arch / MUP / M. Phil or equivalent having degree level teaching experience may also apply, provided they are registered for Ph. D. Programme. They would be required to complete Ph. D at the earliest for consideration for regular position.
3) Such candidates who do not fulfill minimum eligibility criteria would be placed in Pay band III (Rs. 15,600- 39,100/-) with AGP of Rs. 6,000/- at suitable remuneration.
Qualified persons include:
Indian Nationals
Foreign nationals who are Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), in whose case, if selected, permission will be sought from Govt. of India before he/she can join BIT or,
Other foreign Nationals, in whose case, if selected, appointment will be on contract basis for up to five years, subject to the permission from the Govt. of India before he/she can join BIT.
Selection Process:
The initial short-listing of the candidates for faculty positions will be based on the academic credentials, teaching/research experience and administrative abilities to set up research laboratories.
All the short-listed candidates would then be called for a face-to-face interview by the selection committee at Mesra or any other campus.
TA/DA would be payable as per the Institute norms.
Based on the recommendation of the Selection Committee, the job offers will be made.
NOTE:
Interim correspondence in connection with the application will not be entertained.
Originals of Degree Certificates, Age Certificate, Testimonials, etc. should be produced only at the time of interview.
Salary Offered:
Professor: Rs. 37,400/ – Rs. 67,000/- (Minimum of Rs. 43,390/-)+ AGP Rs. 10,000 / Rs.12,000 (Pay band IV)
Associate Professor: Rs. 37,400/ – Rs. 67,000/- + AGP Rs. 9,000/- (Pay band IV)
Assistant Professor: Rs. 15,600/ – Rs. 39,100/- (Range of Rs. 21,000-28,000/-) + AGP Rs. 7,000/- with additional top-up salary in the range of Rs. 1000-6000/- depending on research achievement (On completion of 5 years of service, they will be eligible for grant of pay in Pay band IV (Rs. 37,400 – 67,000/-) with AGP of Rs. 9,000/-.)
Depending upon the qualification & experience, a higher salary and AGP may be offered. Minimum Total Emoluments as on 01 January 2011, for deserving candidates:
Professor: Rs. 77,400/-
Associate Professor: Rs. 67,200/-
Assistant Professor: Rs. 41,600/-

Contributory PF of the tune of 12% of gross salary (Basic + AGP +DA) (Employer’s Contribution).
