INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSTS

Applications in the prescribed forms are invited for direct recruitment to the following posts by 14th April, 2011 (21stApril, 2011 in respect of  applications received only  BY POST from the candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, J&K,  Lahaul & Spiti District and Pangi Sub-division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, A & N Islands or Lakshadweep or abroad).

1. (Vacancy No.11030601526) Two Fisheries Scientists in the Fishery Survey of India, Mumbai under the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture.  

2. (Vacancy No. 11030602426) Three Assistant Library and Information Officers (General) in National Library, Kolkata, Ministry of Culture.  Of the three posts, one post each is reserved for SC & OBC candidates.  The posts are also suitable for Physically  Handicapped persons with   disability viz.  Orthopaedically Handicapped /Locomotor disability / Cerebral Palsy (OA or OL affected).   

3. (Vacancy No. 11030603226) Four Scientists SB(Electrical) in the National Test House, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.  Out  of four posts, one post each is reserved for ST & OBC candidates.  

4. (Vacancy No.11030604226) One Scientist SB (Non-Destructive) in National Test House, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

About Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is used to conduct examinations for various civil services in India. It is authorized by the constitution. The UPSC was first set up on 1st October 1926 by the then British Government in India. Union Public Service Commission conducts examinations for the recruitment of various civil services posts through competitive exams. The President of India only appoints the Chairman and the other members of the UPSC. The members of the UPSC should have a minimum of ten years work experience in central or state service. The recruitment through UPSC can be direct recruitment to fill job vacancies. UPSC advises the Government on various methods of recruitment to civil services. It is also used in reimbursement of fee in various legal matters and disciplinary cases related to different civil services.

The present Chairman of UPSC is Professor D.P.Agarwal. He was also the Director of Indian Institute if Information technology and Management in Gwalior. There are ten other members along with the Chairman. All these members with the chairman are appointed by the President of India. Every member has work term of six years or till the age of sixty-five. The fee for the recruitment is called Central Recruitment Fee Stamp or CRF and is collected in form of stamp. The fee is 100 rupees for service examinations and 50 rupees for direct recruitment. The UPSC submits an annual report to the President of India and it is discussed in the Parliament about the various methods to recruitment of various civil services.
