Written Test for SENIOR NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN GROUP 'X' (EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR) TRADE
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Written Test. Eligible candidates will be sent Admit Cards for appearing in Written Test scheduled to be held during March 2011 at any one of the examination centres listed at Para 15. There will be two papers - an Objective type and a Descriptive type each. The Objective type of paper would cover General English, General Awareness and Current Affairs. The Descriptive type of paper would aim to test the language comprehension and power of expression. Both of the question papers will be administered in one go with duration of 40 & 35 minutes for Objective & Descriptive papers respecivily. CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT). All candidates who pass the written test are to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day. PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes. Candidates completing the PFT in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks on a sliding scale. Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts.
Interview. Candidates who have passed the written test and PFT will be interviewed. Knowledge of English is a prerequisite.
About Indian Air Force
The Indian Air Force was first established in the year 1932 as a part of the armed forces of the Indian Empire, still under the rule of British. It was renamed as Royal Indian Air Force in recognition of the tremendous service offered during World War II. The prefix of Royal was dropped in the year 1950 when India was declared as a Republic. At present Mr. Pradeep Vasant Naik, PVSM VSM ADC is serving as the Air Chief Marshal for IAF.
Since Indian attained Independence, IAF has fought four wars with our neighboring countries China and Pakistan. The force has also been actively involved in the other peace keeping operations of United Nations across the globe. The Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Air Force till date has been the honorable President of India. Air Chief Marshal serves as the Chief of Air Staff and is a four star commander for the Air Force. There is no provision for a second term to any of the Chiefs to return to power.
The Indian Air Force has approximately 1,70,000 staff and a fleet of around 1600 aircrafts. It is termed as the world’s fourth largest air force in the world. Country’s security being the major concern from its neighboring countries, the Indian Air Force is currently on a re-organizing and modernization drive where a number of latest fighter planes and jets will be included.
IAF has also included the services of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for aerial surveillance and reconnaissance. These UAVs also serve as pilot-less target aircrafts when required. They can be used for ground attacks and aerial supervision.
The IAF is not only involved in protecting the nation from enemies but is also engaged in rescue operations at the time of natural calamities. They are the ultimate source of providing food and medicines to the victims at the time of floods like the one in Northern India recently.
