UPSC issued notification for Combined Defence Services (CDS-II) Examination 2010

UPSC CDS Exam is conducted twice every year (in mid february called CDS Exam I) and in mid September (called CDS Exam II). Shortlisted candidates in CDS written exam are called for interview. CDS Exam is conducted by Services Selection Board (SSB). Candidates who clear written test, interview and medical test are finally selected for the defence academies.

Following are the four defence academies:
IMA, Dehradun : Course starts on July 2011 of 18 months duration, Designation - Lieutenant
AFA, Hyderabad : Course starts on July 2011 of 74 weeks duration, Designation - Flying Officer
NA, Ezhimala : Course starts on July 2011 of 68 weeks duration, Designation - Lieutenant
OTA, Chennai : Course starts on October 2011 of 49 weeks duration, Designation - Lieutenant

Of the above institutes OTA Chennai is for short service commission (SSC) for Man and Women. During training candidates gets stipend of Rs21000/- p.m. for the entire duration of training.

Important Dates:
Date of notification is 17th April, 2010
Last date for submission of Online form: 10th May, 2010
Last date for receipt of Offline form: 17th May, 2010
Candidates living in the remote areas is 24th May 2010
Date of CDS (II) Exam 2010 19th September 2010
Result will be declared in the month of December 2010

NA, Ezhimala : 40 Vacancies
OTA, Chennai (Men): 175 Vacancies

AFA, Hyderabad : Unmarried Male, Date of Birth From 02/07/89 to 01/07/92
NA, Ezhimala : Unmarried Male, Date of Birth From 02/07/88 to 01/07/92
OTA, Chennai (Men): Married/Unmarried, Date of Birth From 02/07/86 to 01/07/92
OTA, Chennai (Women): Unmarried, Date of Birth From 02/07/86 to 01/07/92

Offline forms: You can get offline forms from the Designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices mentioned in the notification.
While purchasing the CDS Exam application form, buy a Central Recruitment Fee Stamp Rs. 100/= for CDS exam application fee from the same post office and paste it firmly within the box. After pasting the CRF Stamp on the form, get it cancelled from the post office in the space provided.
