About Gautam Buddha Technical University (GBTU)

Gautam Buddha Technical University (GBTU), was formed on 1 May, 2010 from the bifurcation of the erstwhile Uttar Pradesh Technical University. The newly formed university affiliates the colleges of the Azamgarh, Allahabad, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Devi Paatan, Faizabad, Bareily, Lucknow, Varanasi, Chitrakoot Dham, Basti and Vindhyachal divisions from the academic year 2010-11 onwards.

The university retains the Sitapur road IET campus, and all the government-owned engineering colleges in the state fall under its administration.
