UPSC CSIR UGC NET Exam Pattern Exam Centers

CSIR NET Exam June 2010 Test Pattern Examination Centres

The Test will be held in two sessions on Sunday, the 20th June, 2010 with the revised syllabus of paper I & II, with the revised scheme of Examination as under:-

Paper I 
Marks = 200
Timings = 10.00 AM-12.30 PM
Duration = 2-1/2 hrs

Paper II 
Marks = 200
Timings = 2.00 PM-4.30 PM
Duration = 2-1/2 hrs

Negative marking will be made for wrong answers in Paper I. Paper II will be evaluated only in case of those candidates who will be able to secure a minimum of such aggregate marks in Paper I as may be fixed by the CSIR.

Candidates are required to appear in both the papers. A candidate who does not appear in Paper I will not be permitted to appear in Paper II. The questions in all these papers will appear both in Hindi and English.

CSIR UGC NET 2010 Examination Centers

The test will be held at 25 Centres spread all over India, specified below:

Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Karaikudi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune, Raipur Roorkee, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Varanasi.

A candidate may opt for any of the above centres. No request for change of centre would ordinarily be granted. However, a request in writing for change of Centre may be entertained on merits, if received in this unit latest by 20.04.2010. Source: http://www.winentrance.com

About University Grants Commission (UGC)

University Grants Commission in India is a type of constitutional Organization and was established by Union government in 1956. The main purpose of setup was co-ordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university level of education. Universities in India are acknowledged by UGC. In addition it also provides funds for the government-recognized universities and colleges. Professor S.K.Thorat is current chairman of the UGC.

It has six independent regional headquarters in cities Pune, Bhopal, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Banglore and main headquarter is in the New Delhi. A very before the independence, UGC was recommended to keep a watch over the work of the three Universities of Aligarh, Banaras and Delhi. In 1947, committee was given responsibility of taking decisions with all then existing universities.

It was formally established in year of 1956, with its regional centers in order to guarantee well region-wise exposure throughout the country. Each year UGC conducts National Eligibility Test for recruitment of teachers in various colleges and universities across the country. However, candidates with M.Phil and Ph.D. can skip the NET before applying for the post of teachers in Graduation level and Post-graduation level respectively.

To keep a track of issues of all the colleges across the country is a bit difficult task and hence grading of institutes providing higher education is seen by fifteen autonomous institutions recognized by University Grants Commission. It includes All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Distance Education Council (DEC), India Nursing Council (INC), Medical Council of India and many more.
Unfortunately, Union Minister of Education declared in last year that Government is planning to close down UGC and its institution AICTE because of corruption and incompetence charges against the bodies. These charges can be found more serious in case of higher level bodies that were using their powers in unpleasant ways.
