UPSC IES Exam Electrical Pattern Syllabus Papers Guide Books

UPSC IES Exam Electronics Engineering

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Indian Engineering Services (IES) Examination

This blog will help candidates who wish to appear for UPSC IES Exam with sample papers, question papers, exam pattern etc.

Exam Pattern: IES Exam consists of total 1200 marks including 1000 marks for written test and 200 marks for Interview (if shortlisted).

IES Written test : 600 marks for Objective test and 400 marks for Conventional test

Objective Test Papers:

General Ability Test: 200 marks ( two hours)
Electronics Engineering Paper I: 200 marks ( two hours)
Electronics Engineering Paper II: 200 marks ( two hours)
Total 120 questions in each paper

Objective type test consists of multiple-choice questions with four options, in which you have to choose the correct option.

Negative marking also there, so be very careful while you answer the questions.

Conventional Test Papers:


Electronics Engineering Paper I: 200 marks (three hours)
Electronics Engineering Paper II: 200 marks (three hours)

UPSC decides the cut-off depending upon the performance of the candidates in both the Objective Test Papers and Conventional Test Papers.

About Union public service commission (UPSC)

It is the authorized place at which the examinations are held for appointing various civil services of the union. The very first public service commission was settled on 1st October 1926 and it was settled by the British government. And the demand was made by the India's politicians. But as people of India were not satisfied with that, the British set up a another federal public service commission which was christened and known as union public service commission after 1950 when India became republic. The Chairman and other members of the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) are appointed by the President of India. At least half of the members of the Commission are Civil Servants with minimum ten years of experience either in Central or State service.

Every member used to attend the office for period or term of 6 year. Exams are being conducted for appointment of union services. An examination is conducted followed by an interview. The expenses are based on the consolidated fund of India or a particular state.

Recruitment for Union public service commission (UPSC) is made in three methods like direct recruitment method, promotion and transfer. Direct recruitment is made through competitive exams or through recruitment test followed by interview. For recruitment by selection is also held in two methods that is by interview and written test followed with interview. And the third one is by appointment by promotion and transfer on Deputation.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts dozens of exams in a year in India. Various types of exams are conducted in UPSC like Combined Medical Services Exam, CDS Exam, NDA & NA Exam, Civil Services (Prelims) Exam, Engineering Services Exam, IFS Exam, SCRA Exam, Central Police Forces (AC), IES/ISS, Geologists’ Exam, SO/Steno (Gd B/Gd-I) Ltd Deptt Competitive Exam etc.
